Emergency Care

All members of the care team are trained to carry out basic life support, if that is your wish should you child’s condition suddenly deteriorate.

We care for children and young adults in the knowledge they suffer from a life limiting illness. If a child’s condition deteriorates, with nursing care and medication, we hope to be able to ease distressing symptoms and make your child as comfortable as possible, should hospital treatment not be appropriate.

We hope before an emergency arises, we will have a firm understanding about what you would wish to happen in an emergency situation.

Butterfly Room

No one is ever prepared for the death of their child. The Butterfly Room at Jigsaw provides a private and peaceful bedroom and lounge allowing families to say goodbye to their loved one after death, with the support of the team at Jigsaw.

The service is available to all families in Cumbria, even if the child or young adults has not attended Jigsaw. We will work alongside funeral directors and the family to provide personal care to your love one until the day of the funeral.
