Local solicitors back hospice campaign

This spring a host of local solicitors with offices throughout Cumbria will be supporting a local charity’s Make a Will Month campaign.

During April Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice, in conjunction with Atkinson Ritson, Gaynham King and Mellor, H&F Legal, Kilvington, Waugh & Musgrave and Wragg Mark-Bell, are offering the local community the opportunity and time to talk about their Will and the future. In return for a suggested donation to the hospice people will receive a professionally written Will during the month.

Since 2011 Make a Will Month campaigns have helped to raise £71,464 in aid of the hospice. Approximately one in four patients at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw are cared for as a result of a kind gift left to the hospice in a Will.

Karen Durden, Legacy Fundraising Manager, said “Making a Will is easy to do and keeping it up to date is very important to ensure that your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are looked after.

“We would like to thank all the local solicitors for supporting our Make a Will Month campaign. Every Will written and donation made during the month will help local people with life limiting illnesses to receive vital and specialist care when they need it the most.”

Taking part in Make a Will Month is simple. All you have to do is contact your chosen, participating solicitors directly and book an appointment, quoting Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Make a Will Month. It is up to you how much you donate, but as a guide we suggest £130 for a single Will, £200 for a pair of basic mirror Wills and £40 for a codicil.

2021 is a special and significant year for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw as it marks three decades of caring for local people with life limiting illnesses. For over 30 years the support of the local community has helped to build the hospice, purchase specialist equipment and provide vital care to local people with life limiting illnesses. Every donation helps the local community.
