Staff Nurse (Adult)
Full and part-time positions available, with the regular opportunity for additional shifts if desired
FTE starting salary £28,539 p.a. up to FTE £30,432 p.a.(plus shift enhancements), depending on skills and performance.
We’ve recently reviewed our organisational structure, leadership, values and workforce to ensure Eden Valley Hospice is able to work in a dynamic manner and to provide responsive, specialist care for many years to come. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic, flexible and committed Registered Nurses to join our energetic, friendly, specialist palliative care team.
Our preference would be for the post holder to work various shifts (mostly 12 hours) on rotation between days and nights. However, if you only wish to work only days or nights, we encourage you to apply as we may be able to accommodate this.
Based in Carlisle, we have a 10-bed inpatient unit, day hospice and children’s hospice. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to operate our services more flexibly than in the past, and your main focus will be on the inpatient unit.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating person-centred and evidence-based palliative care for patients, families and carers. Due to excellent staff to patient ratios, you will have time to care for and build relationships with patients and their families. We also work collaboratively across the county with strong links to other care providers.
The hospice’s vision is to provide excellence in specialist palliative care and to ensure patients receive consistently high standards of care in all care settings within the organisation. There is a culture of reflection, training, supporting and development for all staff, with access to regular clinical supervision and training. Eden Valley Hospice provides a creative and unique environment with many opportunities for personal and professional growth and pay progression. A willingness to advance skills is therefore essential.
Our clinical teams are at the heart of everything we do. We appreciate that, as a charity, we may appear to be a less stable option than other healthcare employers. However, we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year and plan to be around for many years to come. Whilst we can never be complacent about the scale of the fundraising challenge that we continually face, the success of our income generation efforts and our prudent approach to managing our resources will ensure that we remain financially secure.
